A Message from the WIB Chair The Delaware County Workforce Investment Board (WIB) works in partnership with County Council to create a dynamic and high-quality workforce for Delaware County. What does that mean to you? We want to ensure that local businesses have a continuing flow of qualified workers from entry level through professional levels. Today, most people will hold seven or more jobs in their lifetime so we want to provide local residents with information about Delaware County employers and help them find an appropriate job. More importantly, we want to help local job seekers grow in their jobs by offering them additional educational and training opportunities. To accomplish this, we work with a wide number of state, county and local organizations that provide education, job training and social services. As a business-led Board, we want to bring best practices to government programs and services. For example, most businesses have a strategic plan outlining their strategy, a plan of action and measurable steps to ensure that progress is being made. To that end, the WIB provided the leadership to identify critical workforce issues for Delaware County and incorporated those issues into a three-year community-wide Strategic Plan. We did this by reaching out to the community and engaged the full range of community stakeholders to create a forum for meaningful discussions on local workforce issues. The plan we developed is now guiding us on how to carry out WIB responsibilities. The plan is also providing a framework for the many organizations responsible for carrying out the goals and action steps. It ensures that we are all on the same page and are working together for a single goal - the economic security and well-being of Delaware County's employers, residents and the community. I would also like to take this public opportunity to thank all those who participated in this comprehensive effort. It is with the ongoing support of our many Stakeholders that we will accomplish our goals and meet new challenges. Finally, this web site is designed for you, the Delaware County community. Here you will find information about employers, services and programs for job seekers and organizations that provide education, job training and social services. Please feel free to contact us and let us know how we're doing or what we need to be doing. I look forward to hearing from you. Albert Danish, Chairman
